Citizens Advice New Forest: New Forest Volunteer Event 2015

We were delighted to be invited to participate in Community First’s Volunteers Celebration event, held on 12th October at Hoburne Bashley. Our Operations Manager, Jeff Wiltshire, Advice Services Manager, Jim Sanders and volunteers from each of our offices attended.

This gave us an opportunity to give formal thanks to all our volunteers for their valued contributions and to meet with other charity organisations and volunteers from across the New Forest. We also gave special thanks to our 3 long-service volunteers, whom have contributed a combined 83 years’ service to our local community.
Jeff Wiltshire said: “It was a real pleasure to attend the event with some of our volunteers and show our appreciation for all their hard work and commitment.

As an independent registered charity we rely heavily on the contribution of our volunteers, without whom we could not provide our service. Our 127 volunteers represents 92% of our work force, enabling us to provide our services in Hythe, Lymington, New Milton, Ringwood, Totton and our outreach in Fordingbridge.

Typically, our volunteers contribute over 2000 hours a month – support staff, assessors, advisers, specialist caseworkers – all delivering to our local community face to face, by email and correspondence, Web chat and our Adviceline telephone service.

It takes up to 2 years to become a fully trained adviser and even then the quality of work is closely monitored against exacting quality standards. Our volunteers rise to the challenge. Our thanks and appreciation to all our volunteers, including our trustee team for their governance work.”
