Free, Confidential, and Independent Advice for the New Forest Community
We are a local, independent charity serving the people who live and work in the New Forest. Since we were founded in 2009, through the merger of several local Citizens Advice, we’ve been dedicated to supporting our community with trusted advice and guidance.

Our fully trained advisers offer free, confidential, and impartial support on a wide range of everyday issues—whether you’re facing challenges with employment, housing, debt, or consumer rights. No matter the problem, we’re here to help you understand your options and make informed decisions.
As the cost of living continues to rise and many people are feeling the strain, our services are more in need than ever. We’re committed to reaching everyone in our community who needs support—empowering people with the knowledge and resources they need.

History of Citizens Advice
Citizens Advice has been helping people solve their problems since 1939, starting with 200 bureaux that opened just a day after World War II began. Run by volunteers, they helped with everything from lost ration books to finding missing relatives.
Over the years, the service has grown and adapted to the changing needs of society—whether it was supporting people through housing issues in the 60s, campaigning for consumer rights in the 70s, or responding to changes in benefits and employment in more recent decades.
Citizens Advice has embraced digital advice, launched a website in 1999, and now help millions every year both online and in person. During the COVID-19 pandemic and the ongoing cost-of-living crisis, Citizens Advice stepped up even more—offering support when people needed it most. With thousands of dedicated staff and volunteers, they continue to provide free, confidential advice to anyone who needs it, making a real difference in communities across the country.
